The Spallation Neutron Source has two major upgrade projects initiated. The Proton Power Upgrade (PPU) project will double the accelerator power, and the Second Target Station (STS) project will provide a new instrument station and initial instrument suite with unprecedented long wavelength peak brightness neutrons. PPU is in the second year of line-item funding and is working towards approval to start construction. FY19 is the first year of STS line item support and is preparing a conceptual design. The general approaches for the various systems in each project will be outlined, with a look forward towards outyear activities.
