We are pleased to announce the Neutron Sciences in Support of Nuclear Power 2019 Workshop to be held on Thursday and Friday, May 16–17, 2019, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) at the Spallation Neutron Source (Building 8600, Conference Room C156).

The workshop will highlight researchers working on various aspects of the nuclear energy fuel cycle to foster collaboration and enhance the use of neutron scattering and HFIR irradiations capabilities in support of nuclear energy development. Topics will include:

  • structural and mechanical property evolution in reactor fuels, fuel cladding
  • structural materials in power-generation and post-use storage environments
  • materials for long-term storage of spent fuel and radioactive waste
  • chemical separations for fuel processing

Lectures, presented by researchers studying these subjects, in the U.S. and internationally, will summarize current research in the field and provide a basis for panel discussions about the application of scattering methods to the subjects described. A poster session will give participants the opportunity to highlight their own work to foster collaboration within this community.

Registration will open Wednesday, March 13 and is required by Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Contributed poster presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts. Abstract submission will open March 18, 2019, and close on May 8, 2019. Please see the Call for Abstracts for details and submission information.
