DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Qiang Zhang\, Alicia Manjon Sanz\, Cheng Li\, Yuanpe
ng Zhang\, Melanie Kirkham\, Thomas Proffen\n\nThe workshop aims to bring
existing and potential POWGEN users together and train them on comprehensi
ve data analysis of time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction data. \nPOW
 GEN is a general-purpose high-resolution powder diffractometer\, playing a
pivotal role in an extensive array of research endeavors within the field
s of chemistry\, materials science\, and magnetism. The workshop’s prima
ry objective is to equip attendees with essential skills to get the most f
rom POWGEN data. The tutorials will cover the basics of neutron diffractio
 n techniques\, Rietveld refinement of long-range crystal and/or magnetic s
tructures. Advanced data processing methods to deal with event-based data
and pixel-by-pixel neutron absorption corrections on POWGEN data will also
be covered. The tutorials will include software packages GSAS-II and Full
Prof. The workshop will also offer an opportunity for existing POWGEN user
s to get help from the POWGEN team to work through any obstacles they may
have encountered and move forward with their data analysis.  \nThe 2-day
workshop is free and the DEADLINE to register is Monday\, May 25th\, 2026
.  Attendance will be limited to 40 participants to ensure the effectiven
ess of the hands-on learning. Preference will be given to active and futur
e US facility users interested in neutron powder diffraction. \nTopics co
vered:\n\nBasics of neutron powder diffraction analysis\nIntroduction to P
OWGEN\, advanced sample environments and related science cases \nHands-on
  data analysis\, including:\n\n\nStructural refinement with GSAS-II\, Full
Prof\nCommensurate magnetic structural determination with GSAS-II\nCommens
urate and incommensurate magnetic structural determination with FullProf\n
Advanced data visualization and reduction techniques – event filtering\,
  absorption correction\, data reduction process\, etc.\n\nOrganizers:\nQia
ng Zhang\, Alicia Manjón Sanz\, Cheng Li\, Yuanpeng Zhang\, Melanie Kirkh
