Topic:  Mantid Tutorial - Finding Structural Change from Event Data

The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) was the first neutron scattering facility to record its data in event mode. With event mode, the experimenter can vary sample environment parameters within a measurement and filter after the experiment is done. Offline, the data can be filtered based on different criteria, such as temperature. This allows for trying different temperature bins and exploring which one gives the proper balance of statistical certainty with temperature resolution for refinement. This webinar will enable attendees to use mantid for processing powder diffraction data with event filtering and visualize the results. Participants can follow along using their own account at https://analysis.sns.gov/.

The data shown was originally shared as a data challenge for the 2017 Smoky Mountain Conference https://smc-datachallenge.ornl.gov/challenge-4-2017/

We will take your questions on this topic and any other general questions you may have about using SNS or HFIR for your research. SNS-HFIR staff and Representatives from your User Group Executive council will be on the call.

Speaker:  Peter Peterson, Lead Software Developer, ORNL Neutron Scattering Division

Moderator: Suzanne Parete-Koon, User Support Group Leader, ORNL Neutron Sciences Program support.
