Analysis of neutron powder diffraction data is an important step in the experimental workflow for many neutron instruments. This analysis is currently supported by several software packages, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. In this community discussion we will identify current and near-term priorities for the community of neutron powder users. The goal will be to use these to complete an extensive gap analysis that will be used to shape strategies for the next five years. In addition to supporting conventional analyses, we also believe there is significant scope for acceleration by exploiting available AI and ML and this will form part of the discussions.
