Badge Access

How to obtain badge access to ORNL:

Once you have registered, an “Invitation to ORNL” email will be sent to you.  Please respond to the invitation so that your badge can be created.

  • Foreign Nationals are required to complete Visa and Passport information and attach a resume to the “Invitation to ORNL” response.  Note: at the port of entry to the US, make sure your Visa is stamped Business and not Tourist.
  • US citizens are not required to submit a resume or complete Passport information.

Approximately 7 days before your scheduled visit, you will receive an email from ORNL with an attached User Entry Pass which you should print and bring with you.  The Pass is beneficial for expediting your entry through security onto the ORNL site.

The morning of the workshop, drive to ORNL via Bethel Valley Road.  At the entrance portal, you will be required to show the guard a compliant form of identification*.  The guard will verify your name is on the list of approved visitors and you will be allowed to proceed to the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) building 8600 where the Workshop will be held (see SNS map).  The guard will provide you with a map at the gate and direct you to the Visitor Center.  Do not go to the Visitor Center.  Your badge will be at SNS.

The first day of the Workshop, September 10, a registration table will be set up in the lobby of building 8600 in front of the Iran Thomas Auditorium where the Workshop will be held.  Your badges may be picked up at the Registration Table.  Foreign National Visitors will be required to present a Visa and Passport before the badge will be issued.

Your badge will be good for the duration of the workshop. Buildings at ORNL have limited access controlled by a badge reader system. Use your badge to obtain entrance into the building simply by placing the badge in front of the proximity reader, located beside the doorway.  When the light turns green and the door lock clicks, you may enter the building.
