This workshop is an introduction and tutorial on crystal field theory. Over the course of two days, we will (i) give a pedagogical introduction to crystal field theory, (ii) hear presentations from leading scientists of crystal field theory about current areas of research, and (iii) give a tutorial on software methods to extract crystal field Hamiltonians from inelastic neutron data (PyCrystalField) and local magnetic anisotropy from half-polarized neutron diffraction data (CrysPy).
