Description
Interfaces are the gatekeepers to function in a long list of applications yet challenges in probing the interfacial monolayer at relevant scales limit our ability to rationally tune them. Here we will describe our approach using nonlinear vibrational spectroscopy to access the mechanisms of ion pairing and solvation that mediate self-assembly and structure at interfaces. Connections will be made between optical methods and complementary scattering approaches The combination of these methods can provide a powerful means to understood ionic interactions at complex and time-evolving interfaces.
