A Single Crystal Neutron Diffraction Data Reduction and Analysis Workshop will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As a satellite event to ACNS 2024 in Knoxville, this hands-on workshop provides a unique opportunity for scientists to enhance their skills in neutron diffraction data analysis and deepen their understanding of symmetry analysis for solving crystal and magnetic structures. Participants will learn how superspace symmetry can be applied to analyze complex and modulated structures, develop practical skills in solving and refining various structure types, and discover the advantages of symmetry-driven approaches for tackling complex structural problems.
Workshop Highlights
- Introduction to JANA2020: For those new to the software, discover the fundamentals of JANA2020 and its application in neutron diffraction data analysis. No prior experience is required.
- Symmetry Analysis for Modulated Crystal and Magnetic Structures: Explore superspace symmetry-driven approaches, specifically focusing on magnetic structure analysis. Gain practical insights into tackling complex structural challenges.
- Hands-on Experience: Engage in practical sessions that allow you to apply the learned concepts, enhancing your capabilities in handling and interpreting neutron diffraction data.

We will accept 30 participants. Registration closes on May 1, and selected applicants will be notified on or before May 12, 2024. Acceptance to the workshop is based on information provided when registering. Those accepted are expected to arrange for their own travel and accommodation.
